History
What is known of her history so far...
She was born in Scotland, but was obviously schooled in America (as she has no Scottish accent). She actually was enrolled in an all girl's boarding school in Maryland at a young age, where her powers would begin to emerge.. eventually getting her expelled from the school, to which she was then taken in by the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.
Its known that her powers emerged during her teenage years. Her power to create a shock emerged first, nearly burning the inside of her body before her healing ability took effect. According to Emma Frost something happened when more of her lightening like powers emerged, in which people were killed.
She is apparently estranged from her father, though she has fond memories of him as a child. Its not yet known what estranged her from her father, but it would be assumed that it has something to do with her powers.
Since beginning to attend the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning she has gained much more exact control of her powers than she had had. She also found a good camaraderie with her fellow students, making many friends. She was able to come out of a shell she had built around herself, and become a much more seemingly happy student.

When it was found out that McKayla was a mutant, her Mother was disgusted and frightened by this revelation, so she had the unborn child she was carrying aborted to avoid that child becoming a mutant. This destroyed MaKayla's father, and he blamed his daughter for the death of his unborn child, and his growing distance from his wife. After hearing of what happened McKayla herself began to blame herself for the death of her unborn sibling.
McKayla was also kidnapped from her boarding school by an unknown, "humanist" organization shortly after her powers were revealed. Though the school actually turned McKayla over to the organization, not wanting the scandal that a mutant would bring. She would later be rescued, after months of torture, by Ororo (Munroe) Iqadi T'Challa and Dr. Hank McCoy. The fact that McKayla was held captive by the organization, that her parents did nothing to retrieve her, and that she was rescued was covered up by her parents with a large donation being made to Emma Frost's school. As a result there is apparently no mention of this situation she was in, in her file with Xavier's school.
McKayla has a large trust fund that her father setup, with Xavier's school in temporary control of the assets, in order to cut ties with his daughter entirely. The trust fund was setup so that she would have no further need to ever contact him, or his wife, thus cutting all contact and relationship off.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Lightening/Solar shock: Solar energy absorbed through her skin stores up inside her, and she can use it to shock a person touching her, or draw a bolt of lightening to strike someone a distance from her.
Abilities
Regenerative Healing Factor: Accelerated healing process that enables her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. Her healing ability also affords her Foreign Chemical Immunity, Immunity To Disease, and Retarded Aging.
Strength level
Slightly above average strength.
Weaknesses
Reckless. Her shock and bolts do drain the solar energy she has absorbed, making it possible for her power to be exhausted, rendering her only able to heal.

Character Development
- Began a secret relationship with Logan "Wolverine" Howlett.
- Knew nothing about Wolverine before becoming involved with him.
- Has a pregnancy scare, where her history with her parents is revealed to Logan. Logan is the only person who knows all of what went on for McKayla with her parents, though Emma Frost, Ororo, and Hank McCoy had an inkling as to her troubles.
